...WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON 

THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING...



* WHAT...Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations 6 inches or 

  more are possible. Winds could gust as high as 50 mph.



* WHERE...In Maryland, Eastern Garrett and Western Garrett Counties. 

  In West Virginia, Western Grant, Western Mineral, and Western 

  Pendleton Counties.



* WHEN...From Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning.



* IMPACTS...Heavy snow could bring significant impacts the evening 

  of New Year's Eve into the morning of New Year's Day. The 

  combination of heavy snow and strong winds could result in 

  near-blizzard conditions at times.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Monitor the latest forecasts for updates on this situation.



Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely 

necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter 

storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains, 

booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing. 

Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help 

you survive in case you become stranded.
