Dangerous heat will develop this week, likely peaking Thursday and

Friday when heat index values will be well over 100 degrees for

much of the area. Chances for strong to severe thunderstorms will

increase by late in the week into the weekend as heat and humidity

persist. The heat gradually subsides by early next week.
