Afternoon highs were in the 60s and 70s with winds ranging from 5 to 15 mph. A cold front will sink southward across the central plains for tonight bringing colder air to the region. Dry weather is expected for all areas across the Heartland along with increasing northeast winds. Overnight lows will range from the colder teens in northeast Nebraska, to the middle 50s in central Oklahoma. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop over southeast Kansas late Sunday morning, then shift into western sections of Missouri during the afternoon hours. Meanwhile temperatures will be cold enough for the precipitation to change over to a winter mix of light freezing rain, and sleet across portions of central Kansas with better chances for some light winter accumulations over northeast Kansas into northwestern Missouri. Daytime highs will be in the colder low 30s over eastern Nebraska and northeast Kansas which will be north of the the surface cold front. Much warmer temperatures in the low 70s will in reside over central and eastern Oklahoma. $$
