Snow accumulation of a dusting up to around 2 inches are expected. Visibility may drop below 1 mile during the period of heaviest snow. There is a 10 to 20 percent chance of freezing drizzle this afternoon and tonight after the snow tapers off. The combination of snow and freezing drizzle will create slippery stretches on area roads. Lake-effect snow will persist over portions of northwest Wisconsin overnight with another 1 to 2 inches in northern Iron County. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday Lake-effect snow will continue Wednesday over northern Bayfield, Ashland, and Iron counties. Northern Iron County may see another 1 to 2 inches of snow during that time with lower totals elsewhere. Temperatures dip into the teens below zero Wednesday night into Thursday morning with wind chill values of 20 to 40 below zero. Small Craft Advisories may be needed for portions of the North Shore and the Outer Apostle Islands. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday Northwest winds continue Wednesday and will slowly back westerly on Thursday. The combination of gusty winds and building waves will make conditions hazardous for smaller vessels. Hazardous conditions may persist through Friday at some locations. There is a 20 to 80 percent chance of gales to 35 knots and up to a 30 percent chance of gales to 40 knots over the North Shore waters Wednesday evening and Thursday morning. A Gale Watch is in effect where the risk is greatest, Taconite Harbor to Grand Portage.
