Winds were currently south-southwest at 7-10 mph per West Texas Mesonet observations at Jayton, with a current temperature of 54 degrees and a dewpoint of 45 degrees, yielding relative humidity of 70 percent. Current RH was adjusted to match real-time observations. Farther north, a surface low was slowly rotating southeastward across W TX, which will maintain the light winds from southwest through the early afternoon. As the surface low rotates to the southeastward throughout the morning and afternoon, a surface trough, or wind shift line, will arrive near the burn site. While wind speeds be near 10 mph, with some gusts up to 15 mph, the wind direction is forecast to transition into a variable state. The timing of this should be between 3-6 PM CST, with a transition occurring to the north after 6 PM CST and prevailing into tonight while gradually transitioning northeast. Expect temperatures to warm to near 87 degrees this afternoon, with mixing heights ascending several km high which will provide ample venting this afternoon. Minimum RH values will fall to into the upper teens prior to sunset, with RH rising above 25 percent by 7 PM CST and recovering to near 85 percent tonight with light, northeasterly winds. .TODAY...
