747 FNUS73 KLSX 281110 FWSLSX Spot Forecast for Bunker Bounds RX...Forest Service National Weather Service Saint Louis MO 510 AM CST Sat Feb 28 2026 Forecast is based on ignition time of 0900 CST on February 28. If conditions become unrepresentative, contact the National Weather Service. .DISCUSSION... Today's wind and humidity forecast will be challenging, as a low pressure system will cause winds to shift constantly throughout the burn period. Winds will likely begin the burn period out of the southeast, then gradually shift to the south, and then southwest by mid to late afternoon. While speeds are expected to be mostly light, some stronger gusts will be possible, particularly in the afternoon when the southwesterlies arrive. Humidity is also expected to be relatively low, but not quite as low as yesterday. In spite of the lingering dry air, a few very light showers or sprinkles may reach the surface during the day, but likely not enough to accumulate. If rain does reach the surface, humidity is likely to remain slightly higher than the forecast below. Persistent cloud cover may also limit mixing and inhibit smoke dispersion, which will likely be challenging already due to the shifting winds. This evening, a cold front will push through the area and switch winds to the north. Winds will remain northerly through the night and gradually become northeasterly tomorrow morning. Much cooler temperatures are expected tomorrow, but humidity will remain relatively low until widespread light rain and possibly some snow arrive overnight tomorrow. .REST OF TODAY...
