The weekend pattern of morning low clouds and partly cloudy and hot afternoons is quite typical in the summer. This will be the case for much of the week ahead with S/SW winds prevailing through midweek. The upper ridge built in last week from the west and turned off the rain. And the upper ridge continues drifting east while building northward over the MS River Valley. Soon, the heat will peak and may relent a little bit as the Gulf moisture spreads a daily sea breeze inland under the upper ridge. So by late week we will see some SE surface winds too, and a slight chance for a thunderstorm. Overall, June was wetter than average and really knocked back the drought to from extreme pockets to moderate and just some severe. However, most days will be dry going into July with hit or miss activity about the best we can expect. Little change on temps, but our min RH is going to continued trending drier for us through midweek ahead of any rain chances as the soil dries out.
