Winds will steadily decrease this evening across the lower elevations while remaining strong and southwesterly across the higher elevations overnight. A system crossing the mountains will cause winds to spread back down into the lower elevations late tonight through Monday morning. Gusts up to 50 mph will be possible across the higher areas and east facing slopes, with local gusts up to 65 mph across the lower elevations of the southern Sangre De Cristo mountains, Wet Mountains and southern I-25 corridor. With poor humidity recovery expected overnight, an early morning return of critical fire weather conditions can be expected after 3 AM for the southern Sangres and southern I-25 corridor, with the remainder of the area picking up by 10 AM. With another day of drying winds, fuels will continue to dry out across the adjacent plains, and more areas could see a return of critical fire weather conditions on Tuesday as we remain under strong southwest flow aloft. A dryline will set up near the Kansas border on Tuesday with humidity values likely remaining elevated for the eastern tier of counties. Very similar conditions will prevail on Wednesday, with the dryline out near the Kansas border, and high fire danger west. Strong southwest flow spreads across the whole area Thursday and Friday with continued widespread high fire danger. Improvement looks to arrive next weekend. Dispersions will remain poor overnight but return to excellent for all areas by mid to late morning.
