Another hot, sunny, breezy day today with winds gusting out of the south to around 25 to 35 mph. Temperatures today will max out in the mid 90s to around 100 with heat indices in the 100 to 110 range. Humidity will be higher across southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa, where it only falls to 45 to 65 percent. Northeast Nebraska and parts of west-central Iowa near the Missouri River get drier, with humidity falling to 30 to 40 percent. Most of the area has low fire danger, but far northern Knox and Cedar Counties have high to very high fire danger due to drier fuels in combination with the windy conditions and lower humidity. Potential for storms Monday evening into early Tuesday. Best chances will be for a corridor from Boone to Butler counties northeast through Wayne and Monona counties. Any storms could keep temperatures a bit cooler on Tuesday. Winds will be much weaker on Tuesday, lowering fire danger for the areas of concern in northern Knox and Cedar counties. Still, hot conditions expected with humidity actually falling to 25 to 30 percent in northeast Nebraska, while elsewhere humidity only falls to 45 to 60 percent.
