628 FNUS52 KMHX 282015 FWFMHX Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern North Carolina National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City NC 315 PM EST Sat Feb 28 2026 .DISCUSSION... Light Nerly breeze in place the rest of today. Winds become calm overnight and fog development is expected across most of ENC, some of which may be dense in the morning. SUN, fog burns off through the morning as a warmer and drier SWerly flow is expected to develop. While modest, SUN will feature the best dispersion of the weekend. A mostly dry front will sink through the area SUN night into MON morning though a few showers or thunderstorms can't be completely ruled out. However, any precip that does occur is expected to amount to less than a tenth of an inch. Dispersion will remain fair on MON, but NEerly winds behind the front will strengthen to 10-15G20kt in the afternoon. Looking ahead, a pattern change is expected, with an increased risk of above normal warmth as we we enter a prolonged Serly flow regime TUES afternoon through the rest of the work week. Sea breeze showers, and maybe tstorms, become possible late-week once we warm up.
