With northwest winds today we are in a favorable setup for warmer temperatures than what was currently forecast. As such warmed temperatures but also increased the winds. The biggest change for winds was over Yuma and Kit Carson County areas, with gusts around 25 MPH through the day. Relative humidity values will continue to be above 20% despite lowering the dew points a few degrees. The relative humidity values will be just above 15% over Cheyenne County CO. However the winds are still expected to be light enough to not meet the threshold for a fire weather concern; but the winds will still be gusting around 20 MPH. Low concerns for critical fire weather conditions through the mid part of the week. An upper level ridge is forecast to bring drier and warmer conditions to the area, keeping afternoon relative humidity around 15-25%. Winds are forecast to occasionally gust to around 25 mph, but should generally be below at the ridge lightens winds. This should allow the next few days to see critical conditions for an hour or two around the noon hour. Otherwise, no big concerns at this time.
