414 FNUS55 KCYS 292003 FWFCYS Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southeast Wyoming/Western Nebraska National Weather Service CHEYENNE WY 203 PM MDT Mon Jun 29 2026 ...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM MDT THIS EVENING FOR THE WYOMING EASTERN HIGH PLAINS AND THE NEBRASKA PANHANDLE... ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY MORNING THROUGH TUESDAY EVENING FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONES 417, 418, AND 434... .DISCUSSION... Strong winds are spreading across the area this afternoon. While humidity is only elevated to marginally critical today, the magnitude of the wind speeds suggest control issues will be present with any new fires that develop today. Expect winds to gradually ease this afternoon and evening and turn more westerly. RH recoveries will be poor to fair tonight over the High Plains as breezy conditions continue. Elevated to near critical fire weather conditions will be present nearly every day for the next week. Confidence is higher in RH reaching critical each day compared to wind gusts. On Tuesday, a Fire Weather Watch was issued for west to southwest winds and low RH for FWZs 417, 418, and 434. This could need to be expanded southward. Winds south of US-20 will me mainly out of the south to southeast, and gusts look to be near critical. No one day stands out right now for major fire weather issues, though Friday will bring the warmest temperatures and the lowest humidity. Gusty showers/thunderstorms will return to the forecast Tuesday onward as well, mainly in the afternoon and evening hours.
