781 FNUS55 KCYS 290935 FWFCYS Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southeast Wyoming/Western Nebraska National Weather Service CHEYENNE WY 335 AM MDT Mon Jun 29 2026 ...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM THIS MORNING TO 9 PM MDT THIS EVENING FOR THE EASTERN WYOMING PLAINS AND THE SOUTHERN NEBRASKA PANHANDLE... ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM THIS MORNING TO 9 PM MDT THIS EVENING FOR THE NORTHERN NEBRASKA PANHANDLE... .DISCUSSION...Near critical fire weather conditions expected for a time late this morning and this afternoon. Although relative humidities may be above 15% for some of these locations, the strong winds with gusts up to 60 MPH will be more than enough to produce hazardous fire weather conditions. For the northern Nebraska panhandle, decent rainfall fell early this morning with scattered strong to severe thunderstorms. This, combined with the uncertain timing in the dry airmass entering the area has led to lower confidence. Will continue to monitor humidity and wind trends this morning. At least elevated fire weather concerns are expected for most of the week with relative humidities slightly below 15% or around 15% each afternoon. However, winds will diminish each day and likely becoming light and variable by Thursday.
