308 FXUS65 KVEF 291910 AFDVEF Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Las Vegas NV 1210 PM PDT Mon Jun 29 2026 .KEY MESSAGES... * Breezy-to-gusty afternoons continue through the work week as temperatures gradually climb back toward seasonal normals. && .DISCUSSION...through Sunday. A lingering trough over the western US will keep winds elevated and temperatures below normal through the work week. Highs today will be 8-12 degrees below climatology, but temperatures are expected to slowly climb during the forecast period, reaching seasonable values by the weekend. Southwest breezes continue each afternoon, strongest on Wednesday and Thursday when widespread gusts of 20-35 mph are likely (80%). Chances of wind impacts appear to be quite limited, with the main concerns being elevated fire danger and increased waves on the local lakes. Precipitation chances (20-60%) are confined to northwestern Inyo County today. Dry low levels will keep any precipitation light, but may induce gusty outflow winds and isolated dry lightning. Beyond that, precipitation chances remain below 10% across the area through the weekend. && .AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 18Z Forecast Package...Gusty north to northwest winds will continue to subside this morning as wind speeds generally fall to 10 knots or less. An occasional gust to 15-18 knots can't be ruled out through around 22z. Winds will shift to a northeast through east direction, becoming southeasterly between 20z and 23z. Winds will then shift to a westerly direction by 05z to 06z then settle to more southwesterly overnight. Temperatures are expected to peak in the mid 90s this afternoon. For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast California...For the 18Z Forecast Package...Aside from KBIH and KDAG, where winds are following mostly diurnal patterns, northerly winds persist this morning. This is especially true at KEED and KIFP, where gusty north winds have affected the Colorado River Valley. Winds will gradually work towards more diurnal patterns later today into tonight, however a few gusts of 20 to 30 knots will remain possible, especially at KBIH this afternoon, and KIFP/KEED. Additionally, a few showers and storms are expected to develop along the Sierra crest. This may eventually affect KBIH, where VCSH has been added to the 18z TAF. Any showers will product gusty and erratic winds. From 00z on, a more diurnal wind pattern is expected at all terminals with KDAG being the breezy outlier with gusty west winds overnight. Otherwise, winds look to remain in the 10-15 knot or less range. && .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...Spotters are encouraged to report any significant weather or impacts according to standard operating procedures. && $$ DISCUSSION...Woods AVIATION...Austin For more forecast information...see us on our webpage: https://weather.gov/lasvegas or follow us on Facebook and Twitter
