(This evening through Tuesday) Issued at 255 PM CDT Mon Jun 29 2026 No significant changes are anticipated over the next 24 hours from the previous forecast. A few isolated showers or thunderstorms may approach the western Crockett County panhandle area this evening, but otherwise a dry forecast with hot temperatures is expected. Tonight, lows will drop into the 70s area-wide. South winds will persist through Tuesday, with gusts approaching 30 MPH at times during the afternoon hours, although we should see a slight decrease in speeds on Tuesday. && .LONG TERM... (Tuesday night through next Monday) Issued at 255 PM CDT Mon Jun 29 2026 For the long term, we will start with extensive upper level ridging over the southeastern U. S., and an upper level trough over the western half of the CONUS, leaving west-central Texas still under southwest flow aloft. This pattern will keep us hot, with somewhat windy conditions through Wednesday. As we move towards this weekend, upper level ridging will gradually build over northern Mexico, merging with the southeastern CONUS ridge over our region. This will keep our temperatures hot. Ridging over the top as opposed to southwesterly flow will also result in lighter winds, especially from Friday into the weekend. && .AVIATION...
