(Today and tonight) Issued at 255 AM CDT Mon Jun 29 2026 Skies were partly to mostly cloudy this morning across west central Texas. Temperatures were in the upper 70s to low 80s, while winds were from the south at 10-15 MPH with gusts over 25. At the upper-levels, west-central Texas remains between a ridge over the Mid-South and a trough over the western US. The heat continues to be the main story with the persistent warm airmass in place while southerly winds will also continue thanks to an area of low pressure in the lee of the Rockies. Temperatures will be a few degrees lower than yesterday given slightly lower mid-level heights but highs should still be around 100 degrees this afternoon. The majority of the area will remain dry. However, a few showers or storms that form over the higher terrain of west Texas this afternoon could reach western Crockett County this evening. Overnight, breezy and mild conditions will continue with temperatures in the mid to upper 70s. && .LONG TERM... (Tuesday through Sunday) Issued at 255 AM CDT Mon Jun 29 2026 Hot and overall dry conditions will continue through the extended forecast. Tuesday and Wednesday a large upper level ridge will be centered across the Mid-Atlantic with a large upper level trough across the western CONUS. This ridge will extend into Texas resulting in highs in the mid 90s to near 100. Friday into the weekend, the aforementioned upper level ridge will shift slighly east while an upper level ridge develops across northern Mexico. This will result in even hotter temperatures across West Central Texas. Highs Friday into Sunday will be in the upper 90s to around 103 with overnight lows in the 70s. && .AVIATION...
