At the surface, southwest winds of 5 to 10 mph Thursday morning, increase late afternoon and Thursday night, becoming west to northwest and gusty at times. This, as surface low develops in the Panhandle and moves east along the Red River. The gusty west to northwest winds downslope winds continue Friday, shifting north Friday night with a weak cold front. The downslope southwest to west winds Thursday and west to northwest winds Friday will allow temperatures to rise into the mid 70s Thursday (New Years) and mid/upper 70s Friday.
