By tomorrow afternoon, temperatures will warm nicely back into the mid to upper 60s under mostly sunny skies. Winds will be fairly light through tomorrow, becoming west to southwest by late tomorrow morning. && .LONG TERM... (Wednesday night through next Tuesday) Issued at 1250 PM CST Tue Dec 30 2025 The new year will start off dry with afternoon temperatures warm and well-above normal Thursday. A weakening ridge aloft will shift east into Texas before the flow briefly flattens out, and an embedded disturbance moves across the area. At the surface, southwest winds Thursday morning will become breezy by afternoon and veer to west-southwest as a surface trough moves through. Downsloping wind component will aid in the warming and expect afternoon highs to be in the mid 70s to near 80 with partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies. An upper shortwave trough is forecast to move southeast across southern Plains and Texas on Friday, with associated weak cold front moving south into the Big Country Friday morning. The front will proceed south across the rest of our area Friday afternoon into early Friday night. West-northwest winds ahead of this front are expected to be breezy late Friday morning and afternoon. The frontal passage will bring a shift to north-northeast winds. Temperatures will be several degrees cooler (but still above normal) in the Big Country behind the front on Friday, and in much of our area Saturday.
