Issued at 1044 AM CST Tue Dec 30 2025 - One more night of cold, near freezing temperatures, before a temperature rebound results in highs in the 60's and 70's through the end of the week. - Rain chances continue to be non-existent through the 7 day period, resulting in growing concerns centered around drought and fire weather. && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 1044 AM CST Tue Dec 30 2025 Clear skies and lighter winds this afternoon when compared to yesterday, though temperatures are expected to hover around the same values. Overnight, temperatures will trend a few degrees warmer, but still near freezing for many as we see a gradual wind shift from northerlies to westerly and southwesterly by morning. This will aid a warming trend that will carry through the rest of the week as we trade the daytime highs in the 40's and low 50's for 60's on Wednesday, with temperatures rebounding into the 60's and 70's through New Year's Day and Friday. Confidence in warming temperatures through the forecast is on the rise, along with confidence in no measurable precip as a dry forecast looks to prevail into next week. Though there is still a chance for a stray shower or two across the extreme eastern parishes of the FA as a shortwave kicks across the region Friday afternoon, eastern displacement of the deep layer moisture and timing looks to support higher rain prospects for areas along and east of the Mississippi River. Beyond this, there is decent agreement among the global guidance this afternoon for upper ridging to build over the area early next week which would support a continuation of a warmer forecast. Along with this, low precip prospects look to be in the cards as well, and given this trend, this only continues to elevate drought and fire weather concerns. This will only double following any upcoming fropa where RH percentages drop significantly and tight pressure gradients in the wake of the fropa support gusty winds. 53 && .AVIATION...
