- A prolonged heat wave this week will see high temperatures in

  the mid 90s with heat indices generally 105+ through at least

  Friday possibly into Saturday. An Extreme Heat Warning is in

  effect through Friday. 



- Isolated to scattered (20-30%) shower/storm chances re-enter

  the forecast late week and through the weekend.

The potent upper level ridge continues to lock into place over the 

region today. Highs expected in the mid 90s with dew points in the 

upper 70s. This will lead to heat indices generally in the 105+ 

range. The ridge is expected to stay in place through late week, 

possibly into the weekend. An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect as 

heat indices remain in the 105+ range through Friday and possibly 

into Saturday. 



By Thursday the ridge axis shifts more east and begins to 

potentially relax a bit. This introduces the chance for some 

isolated to scattered (20-30%) showers and storms over portions of 

the area during the afternoon and evening. Chances continue into the 

weekend as the ridge breaks down. PoPs pick up to around 30-40% 

Sunday afternoon as a shortwave moves through mainly to our

north.

A SCT diurnal cu deck at about 2,500 ft is blooming across the 

area this afternoon. Terminals may occasionally go MVFR when

coverage increases to BKN. This deck will slowly disappear late

in the evening towards sunset and after. Expect clear skies

overnight and into tomorrow morning. 



Winds are modest out of the southwest at around 7-10 kts with 

western terminals (KMVN and KCGI) seeing occasional gusts to 

around 20 kts. Winds will come down slightly overnight to around

3-5 kts before picking back up tomorrow morning.
