.KEY MESSAGES...



- Dangerous heat and humidity will build into the region and

  remain in place through at least Friday. Peak heat indices 

  are forecast to reach 105 to 110 each afternoon. Little relief

  is expected overnight with lows only falling into the mid 

  70s.



- Small chances for showers and storms may arrive as early as

  Thursday and continue into the weekend.

An upper level ridge will continue to build across the region 

today while a surface low develops off the Rockies and ejects 

into the northern plains. Upper ridging will remain in place 

through most of the extended period with some broadening of the 

ridge towards late week and into the weekend. Today begins an 

extended period of temperatures in 90s with mid to upper 90s 

expected by Tuesday. These temperatures combined with dewpoints 

in the upper 70s results in heat indices between 105 and 115 

degrees. Little relief will be felt at night with low 

temperatures in the mid to upper 70s. The excessive heat warning

for the entire area begins at 17Z and continues into Friday. 

Convection may start to develop as early as Thursday but at this

time looks to be isolated with more scattered activity

developing over the weekend.

SCT-BKN diurnal bases will dissipate with loss of fuel, and the

same will hold tmrw with the same trends as today, as high 

pressure asserts its grip upon our weather. Some tighter 

gradient to our west may yield a few southerly gusts during peak

heating again tmrw, similar to today...so included that at 

KCGI/KMVN accordingly. And while the guidance is not really 

hitting it, trends should be monitored with clearing skies/light

winds and all the recent rainfall, potential for vsbys to 

restrict in patchy fog cannot be completely ruled out, but was 

not included in this package.
