073 FXUS64 KOUN 301711 AFDOUN Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Norman OK 1111 AM CST Tue Dec 30 2025 ...New AVIATION... .KEY MESSAGES... Updated at 1107 AM CST Tue Dec 30 2025 - Near elevated fire weather conditions expected this afternoon due to low humidity. - Above normal temperatures and dry conditions expected midweek though the weekend. && .NEAR TERM... (Through Tuesday) Issued at 1209 AM CST Tue Dec 30 2025 Clear skies, light winds, and a dry airmass have allowed for temperatures to drop quickly into the teens and twenties early this morning. As is usually the case with radiational cooling setups, the coldest temperatures are being observed in valleys and other more sheltered areas, where some sites may see temperatures drop below 15 degrees by sunrise. Temperatures will warm quickly today as winds become southwesterly and a very dry airmass remains in place. Highs will reach into the 50s across most of the area, which will be a 30-40 degree increase from this morning's low temperatures in many spots. Afternoon relative humidities will drop near or below 20%, but fairly light wind speeds should help temper our fire risk today (though near- elevated conditions are likely). Lows tonight will not be nearly as cool, with most areas dropping into the mid 20s to low 30s by Wednesday morning. Ware && .SHORT TERM... (Wednesday through Thursday night) Issued at 1209 AM CST Tue Dec 30 2025 High temperatures will continue to warm into the 50s and 60s on Wednesday as 925-850 mb flow veers, helping advect a warmer, downsloped airmass into the region. Thursday will likely see a bit more of a N-S temperature gradient as a surface low deepens in the panhandles and a pseudo warm front positions itself across northern OK, keeping temperatures in northern OK in the low to mid 50s. Ware && .LONG TERM... (Friday through Monday) Issued at 1209 AM CST Tue Dec 30 2025 The aforementioned surface low will track eastward along/near the Red River Thursday night bringing a northerly wind shift in its wake for Friday. However, not much airmass change is expected with highs likely similar to those on Thursday. Unfortunately, rain chances continue to look slim to none with this system. Dry conditions and above normal temperatures then look to continue this weekend into early next week as westerly mid-upper flow is maintained across the region. Highs by Sunday are likely to reach back into the 60s and 70s with breezy south winds. Ware && .AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 1107 AM CST Tue Dec 30 2025 VFR conditions will prevail through 18Z Wednesday. The wind will be southwest before shifting to the west and northwest during the overnight hours. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
