Updated at 1016 PM CST Tue Dec 30 2025 - Dry and seasonably cool New Year's Eve. - Temperatures climb above normal starting Thursday. - Next rain chances Friday afternoon and Friday night. No hazardous weather is expected. && .SHORT TERM... (Tonight through Thursday Night) Issued at 1016 PM CST Tue Dec 30 2025 Another chilly night is on tap across Middle TN with mostly clear skies as the CP air mass behind Sunday's storms hangs on one more night. However, we will start to warm up starting tomorrow. With lots of sun and west to southwest boundary layer flow, Wednesday afternoon highs should be 10-12 degrees warmer than we saw on Tuesday. This will be the trend for the next few days ahead of our next weather maker due in here on Friday. && .LONG TERM... (Friday through next Wednesday) Issued at 1016 PM CST Tue Dec 30 2025 Our one and only weather maker in this forecast package is expected to push into the mid-state Friday after a weak low pressure system develops in Arklatex Thursday night. As it traverses the Gulf States, there will be a medium to high chance of showers across most of the area Friday afternoon, lasting through the overnight hours Friday into Saturday. Current forecast trajectories have the warm front remaining well south of the AL-TN state line. The only outlier is the NAM with the warm front as far north as I-40. We will keep any mention of thunder well south of us and as far as any wintry precip? Nope. Too warm. QPFs range from about a tenth of an inch north of I-40 to almost 1/2 for our southern counties. All this to say: no hazardous weather is expected. Temperatures will tick down on Saturday behind the rain, but only by a few degrees and we should remain above normal (which is 50 at BNA) through the rest of the forecast period. In fact, there is at least a low to medium shot of seeing a few low 60s to start off next week. && .AVIATION...
