Issued at 215 AM CDT Mon Jun 29 2026 - Upper level high pressure will dominate with a continuation of hot and humid conditions to the region. - Heat index values will likely exceed 105 degrees across the Delta and the Arkansas River Valley. Heat advisories are in effect through Thursday. Several counties remain under an extreme heat watch. - Rain chances will be near zero until Wednesday when some small chances of precipitation return. && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 215 AM CDT Mon Jun 29 2026 Not many value added changes will be forth coming this morning as guidance has not altered very much versus this time yesterday. Skies are mainly clear this morning with a little patchy out there. Local observations are mainly in the mid 70s to around 80 degrees at this time with dew points generally in the lower to mid 70s. An amplified pattern remains in place with troughing covering the western United States with upper level low pressure sitting over the northern Rockies. In response, a rather stout upper ridge extends from the gulf coast northward to the Canadian border with the center of the upper high sitting just to the east of Memphis this morning. Guidance remains consistent in taking the aforementioned upper low into central Manitoba with the center of the axis of the upper ridge moving eastward into the Tennessee Valley by Wednesday morning. Southerly flow will keep plenty of heat and humidity in place with high temperatures well into the 90s and dew points generally in the 70s through Friday. Heat index values will be close to or exceed the century mark for most of the FA with the Delta counties and the Arkansas River Valley seeing heat indices over 105 degrees and a heat advisory remains in effect through Thursday. Several counties remain in an extreme heat watch where heat index values could top 110 degrees. No changes were made to the heat headlines currently in place. Precipitation chances are near zero through Tuesday as widespread subsidence will squash any rain potential. However, the position of the upper high come Wednesday will allow for an uptick in moisture during the afternoon with the FA located on its western periphery. Rain chances will remain in the forecast through the remainder of the period but overall amounts will be light and largely driven by diurnal heating. Little relief is expected through next weekend although rain chances do increase somewhat towards the end of the period. && .AVIATION...
