590 FXUS63 KLMK 302330 AFDLMK Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Louisville KY 630 PM EST Tue Dec 30 2025 ...Updated Aviation Discussion... .KEY MESSAGES... * Chances for light snow across SE Indiana and north central Kentucky New Year's Eve night. Little to no accumulation expected. * A quiet weather start to 2026. && .SHORT TERM /THROUGH WEDNESDAY/... Issued at 258 PM EST Tue Dec 30 2025 Pretty quiet stretch of weather through tomorrow with dry NW flow aloft in place. There will be a series of clippers dropping SE through this flow later this evening, and again later Wednesday. The main impacts to sensible weather tonight will be an increase in sky cover as mid to upper clouds overspread the area. Cloud deck may be just low enough to spit out a few flurries, but given the dry air in place beneath it, not sure how much might make it to the ground. No mention in the forecast at this time, but could be something to monitor through the evening. Otherwise, look for dry weather with lows in the mid 20s tonight. Look for highs mostly in the upper 30s north to mid 40s south to end 2025. && .LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY/... Issued at 258 PM EST Tue Dec 30 2025 New Year's Eve... A quick hitting and subtle clipper moves through the NW flow aloft on Wednesday night, with the bulk of the deepest moisture passing to our north and east. Will continue with some low chance pops for areas along and NE of a Madison, IN to Richmond, KY line. Some light snow will be possible from around Midnight to around sunrise north of this line, however little to no accumulation is expected. Warm temps from Wednesday ahead of any snowfall should limit accumulation potential on any roadways. Still use a bit of caution, especially if on I-71 or I-75 north on Wednesday night. New Year's Day - Early Next Week... Overall, look for a pretty uneventful start to the new year as dry NW flow aloft and surface high pressure control sensible weather for much of the time. We will have a southern stream system passing to our south Friday night into Saturday, but the 24-36 hour trend with this system has been south, and now keeps our area completely dry. Temperatures will be fairly seasonal for this time of year through late week with highs in the upper 30s and 40s, and lows generally in the 20s and low 30s. The weekend into early next week sees a milder trend with highs more in the 40s and 50s. && .AVIATION /00Z TAFS THROUGH 06Z THURSDAY/... Issued at 630 PM EST Tue Dec 30 2025 Mid-level stratus deck is over most of the area this evening, resulting in VFR cigs around 7-8k ft. There is a low chance for these clouds to produce a few flurries, but confidence is not enough to include any mention in TAFs. Otherwise, expect continued VFR with mid-level cigs, and light winds from the SW tonight and more from the W tomorrow. && .LMK WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... KY...None.
