Issued at 242 PM CST Tue Dec 30 2025 Upper level ridge expands slightly eastward Wednesday, approaching the High Plains. A cold front will also begin to sag into the area Wednesday and could see some compressional heating out ahead of it, thus did bump highs several degrees across western and southwest Nebraska, blending towards the 90 percentile and introducing upper 50s to 60 degrees into the forecast area. As the cold front moves through, expect colder low temperatures with lows dipping into the teens across north central Nebraska. There will be the potential for elevated fire concerns on Wednesday with min RH around 20 to 25 percent across western Nebraska and northwest winds sustained at 10 mph and gust up to 20 mph. && .LONG TERM /THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/... Issued at 242 PM CST Tue Dec 30 2025 Thursday temperatures will be slightly cooler with the cold front passage, but will still be unseasonably warm for this time of year around 5 to 10 degrees above. There may be some elevated fire weather concerns yet again on Thursday, particularly for far western Nebraska with min RH around 20 to 25 percent, however winds are expected to remain light out of the northwest around 5 to 10 mph. Friday will be cooler with the greatest influence of CAA across north central Nebraska where highs will be below normal in the 30s. The Sandhills into southwest Nebraska will be in the 40s and 50s. Upper level ridge builds back in for the weekend with again well above normal temperatures expected with highs reaching the 50s and 60s.
