Issued at 253 AM CST Sat Feb 28 2026 Dry and seasonably warm conditions will prevail through the first half of next week as mid and upper level ridging build across the Southeastern US. Even though we are only one day into a postfrontal regime, the dryness of this airmass will allow it to warm efficiently with high temps approaching 80 today. With RHs dipping below 25 pct in many areas today and fuels remaining dry in several areas, this could present some fire danger threat. However, light wind should preclude a threat worth highlighting in an outlook. The warming trend will continue into early next week, especially into south MS. Farther north into AR and north MS, a reinforcing front will approach Sunday into Monday, holding daytime temps steady in the mid 70s. This front will stall before bringing any cooldown, however. A few sprinkles may sneak into the ArkLaMiss Delta Sunday morning, but amounts will be negligible. As East Coast ridging becomes more stout, high temps in the 80s may become common areawide by the end of next week. However, with the ridge shifting a bit further eastward, it will permit the return of lower end shower chances. The corridor of heavier rainfall will remain northwest of our area from North Texas through the Ozarks. However, some light shower activity and perhaps a stray storm could begin making it into our area by Wednesday. Through Friday, average rainfall amounts will remain below a quarter inch. In fact, some areas may still remain rain free over the next seven days. /DL/ && .AVIATION...
