541 FXUS64 KJAN 280527 AAB AFDJAN Area Forecast Discussion...UPDATED National Weather Service Jackson MS 1127 PM CST Fri Feb 27 2026 ...New AVIATION... .KEY MESSAGES... - Seasonable warmth will persist for most of the forecast. - Showers and thunderstorms are expected late next week. && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 109 PM CST Fri Feb 27 2026 Through next week... Deep ridging will be the predominant feature over our area this week and will keep seasonally warm and dry conditions through most of the period. Dewpoints will mix down this afternoon and Saturday afternoon as well, which will lead to lower RH. RH will drop into the 20s most areas tomorrow afternoon. That said, fire risk looks to remain lower than last week due to light winds. While the risk is nonzero, have refrained from introducing a limited graphic at this time. Should confidence for fire concern increase, there will be an update. By Sunday into Monday, the ridge builds over the east. With our area on the western periphery, winds will turn southerly. Moisture will increase and limit afternoon mixing. Overnight lows will also be warmer, close to average daytime highs for this time of year (65) with lows in the low to mid 60s. Weather will remain quiet through mid week. Later next week, a series of shortwaves and their attendant surface lows eject across the plains and will weaken the ridge. This will introduce low rain chances to our area Thursday and Friday, particularly in the northwest. That said, QPF is generally only a few 100ths each day, and thus is rather insignificant. The majority of energy will be deflected as the ridge remains dominant./SAS/ && .AVIATION...
