Issued at 225 AM CST Wed Dec 31 2025 Welcome to the final day of 2025! There is a cold front that will move through today that could have some snow flurries move north of I-70 this afternoon, but the amounts are not impressive if you see any flakes at all. There is a 20-40% chance of more than a tenth of an inch, north of I-74, with this wave. Higher probs are found as you move northeast outside of the forecast area. This cold front could also deliver some single digit wind chills north of I-72, tomorrow morning. After today, we kick off the new year with a period of dry weather for much of the first week of 2026. Highs will be in the upper 30s to low 40s today. Highs tomorrow will top out in the upper 20s to mid 30s as a result of the cold front passage today. There is some gradual warming into the weekend after tomorrow as high pressure builds over the Midwest. Highs by Sunday/Monday next week get in the 40s. Lows of teens to upper 20s are forecast through Sunday. Looking at the CPC 6-10 day outlook, the trend toward above-normal temperatures is favored to persist through the first week of January.
