196 FXUS63 KICT 310812 AFDICT Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Wichita KS 212 AM CST Wed Dec 31 2025 .KEY MESSAGES... - Dry and seasonably mild through the upcoming week. && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 211 AM CST Wed Dec 31 2025 Light west to southwest winds will help drive temperatures into the upper 50s for most areas today as we remain within a northwest mid/upper flow regime. A shortwave trough digging over the Great Lakes area will drive another cold front south tonight. This front will usher in cooler air on Thursday. Post-frontal stratus could impact parts of central Kansas early on Thu and combined with considerable mid and high clouds, temperatures may struggle to reach expectations. Some areas may have trouble climbing out of the low 40s. As we move into Friday, a more subtle shortwave trough is progged to race eastward over the Southern Plains. This may allow the sfc cold front to sink a bit further south which would result in lower temperatures for much of the area on Friday. Values were trended down only slightly at this time. Sat-Tue...The mid/upper ridge over the western CONUS is progged to translate eastward over the weekend bringing rising heights/increasing thickness and rising temperatures through early next week. Much above average temperatures are expected to return with highs climbing into the 60s through much of the period. && .AVIATION /06Z TAFS THROUGH 06Z THURSDAY/...
