A Winter Weather Advisory is now in effect for most of NE Montana until 11 AM Saturday. - Colder temperatures this weekend will moderate by the middle of next week. && .DISCUSSION... WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: The latest NBM has shown a northeastward shift in the band of snow expected across NE Montana. Steady snow will move out this morning with totals of 3 to 5 inches mainly in an area from Opheim to Wolf Point to Scobey. North winds of 10 to 20 mph will eventually shift north east and east overnight. This may cause a little blowing and drifting. Future shifts will have to consider trimming headlines if the northeast trend continues. Colder temperatures will filter in behind the system over the weekend, but cold weather headlines are not expected. This cold spell may be short lived with ensembles showing a ridge pattern over the Northern Rockies and Northern High Plains toward the middle of next week.
