935 FXUS64 KFWD 282321 AFDFWD Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Fort Worth TX 621 PM CDT Sun Jun 28 2026 ...New AVIATION... .KEY MESSAGES... - Hot and dry conditions will continue through next week with highs in the upper 90s and heat index values near 105 degrees. - Breezy south winds will continue today and Monday, with frequent gusts between 30-35 mph. - Low rain chances will return next weekend. && .SHORT TERM... (This evening through Monday) Issued at 147 PM CDT Sun Jun 28 2026 Hot and dry conditions will persist this afternoon through Monday as the center of a mid level ridge axis remains just to our east. Troughing over the western CONUS will help sustain continued lee side cyclogenesis through Monday afternoon which will result in persistent breezy conditions. A deeply mixed boundary layer will keep dewpoints in the mid to upper 60s this afternoon and Monday which should keep heat indices in check. Heat index values should top out between 100-105 degrees. Overnight lows will only fall into the upper 70s tonight with some intermittent cloud cover. Dunn && .LONG TERM... (Monday night through next Saturday) Issued at 147 PM CDT Sun Jun 28 2026 Ridging will persist through much of the upcoming week across the Southern Plains but the ridge axis will slowly slide eastward through the week. This will allow the pressure gradient to relax a bit through mid week as troughing over the western CONUS becomes a little less amplified. Lighter winds and slightly warmer temperatures will make it feel a little hotter, but overall temperatures will generally remain in the upper 90s through the week for afternoon highs. Despite the lighter winds, we'll generally see deep boundary layer mixing which will allow dewpoints to fall into the upper 60s and lower 70s. This should keep heat index values below Heat Advisory criteria. Slightly better moisture is expected to spread north into the region by late week and we'll likely see some low storm chances by the Fourth of July. Dunn && .AVIATION... (00Z TAFS) Issued at 608 PM CDT Sun Jun 28 2026 Breezy southerly winds will persist through the entire forecast period with sustained speeds of 15-20 kts and gusts of 25-30 kts. A brief intrusion of MVFR stratus is expected again Monday morning which may intermittently result in cigs prior to daybreak, and this will be advertised with a Tempo group for all TAF sites. && .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
