522 FXUS64 KFWD 300946 AFDFWD Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Fort Worth TX 346 AM CST Tue Dec 30 2025 ...New AVIATION... .KEY MESSAGES... - Colder and below normal temperatures are expected through Wednesday, with warmer and above normal temperatures the rest of the week into the weekend. - No rain is anticipated for the foreseeable future. && .SHORT TERM... (Today and tonight) Issued at 1239 AM CST Tue Dec 30 2025 Satellite imagery this morning shows thick cirrus clouds blanketing parts of North and all of Central Texas. However, these clouds continue to gradually shift southeastward with time, with skies expected to clear across North Texas the next few hours. With winds becoming light or calm and dewpoints very low in the teens, temperatures should rapidly drop into the 20s across North Texas once skies clear. A few areas near the Red River could even reach the upper 10s. For Central Texas, the thick cloud cover will likely keep temperatures from dropping much, and current forecast lows for this morning could be too cold. Despite the chilly start, the very dry airmass in place along with skies becoming sunny will allow for a considerable warmup today - albeit still on the cool side with highs in the upper 40s east to upper 50s west. For tonight, clear skies, light winds, and very low dewpoints should once again let temperatures fall considerably with lows in the 20s/30s. Have undercut NBM guidance for Wednesday morning's lows given the expected conditions. && .LONG TERM... (Wednesday through Monday) Issued at 1239 AM CST Tue Dec 30 2025 After the early week cold snap, a warmup will begin on New Years Eve and continue into the first week of 2026 as a large upper level ridge builds over the western half of the country. Highs are expected to warm back to well-above normal levels and reach the 60s on Wednesday, 60s/70s for Thursday, and 60s/70s and even a few 80s on Friday. Guidance shows a weak front moving through on Friday which will knock temperatures down somewhat for the weekend, but they will still be well above-normal in the 60s/70s through early next week. Unfortunately, no rain is expected this forecast period or for the foreseeable future. Given that the last significant rainfall was 36 days ago on November 24, drought conditions may begin to worsen as we move further into January 2026. && .AVIATION... (12Z TAFS) Issued at 345 AM CST Tue Dec 30 2025 VFR conditions will be seen this TAF period with SKC in D10 and scattered cirrus gradually clearing out at ACT. Northwest winds around 5 knots today will become southwesterly around 6 knots tonight, then westerly on Wednesday morning. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS... Dallas-Ft.
