Updated at 1230 PM CST Tue Dec 30 2025 - Widespread low temperatures in the 30s are expected tonight/Wednesday morning with a few locations falling below freezing. && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 1230 PM CST Tue Dec 30 2025 Surface high pressure will continue to surge into the region this afternoon and evening leading to drier conditions, a clearing in the cloud cover, and light winds. These conditions will allow for more effective radiational cooling to occur with temperatures plummeting into the low 30s to mid 40s overnight. A few locations could experience freezing temperatures for a few hours Wednesday morning, but is not anticipated to become a widespread issue and more localized to low/drainage areas over inland portions of the Coastal Plains and Victoria Crossroads. At the moment a Freeze Warning is not in effect, but will pass it on to the evening shift for a second look. In terms of wind chills, these will be closer to the actual temperatures due to the lighter winds overnight. Onshore flow resumes Wednesday afternoon as the surface high begins to shift eastward, with warmer temperatures returning to South Texas late week. Another boundary is progged to swing through the area Friday night, but will only drop temperatures by a few degrees over the weekend. Rain chances with this next boundary are less than 15% at the moment. && .AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 1230 PM CST Tue Dec 30 2025 VFR conditions will prevail though the TAF cycle at area terminals under light and variable winds. && .MARINE... Issued at 1230 PM CST Tue Dec 30 2025 Although Small Craft Exercise Caution Conditions continue this early afternoon across the offshore waters, winds and seas are forecast to subside to below caution criteria by this evening. Expect a gentle to moderate (BF 3-4) northerly breeze Wednesday morning, before winds shift onshore again by the afternoon. A weak boundary will move through the area Friday night, with winds briefly shifting offshore. && .FIRE WEATHER... Issued at 1230 PM CST Tue Dec 30 2025 Wednesday will be dry again with RH values falling into the teens across inland portions of South Texas. Although winds will be light on Wednesday, ERC values in the 50-89th percentile could provided for Elevated fire weather conditions again. Otherwise, expect warmer and slightly more humid conditions to return late week before a weak front moves through by early weekend (Saturday). This will lower minimum RH values below 30% once again across portions of the Brush Country. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
